I sure am having a hard time updating this blog!  When 7 pm rolls around and I find myself with some free time, the only things I can think about are lounging on the couch and... well, that's about it.  Ben has been super busy with work-related shenanigans and music gigs, so the blog has been the last thing on our minds. Despite my lackadaisical ways, Scarlett continues to grow grow grow and is now 7 months old!  She is sitting unsuppported like a champ, devouring mass amounts of pureed food (though we're about to ditch that and transition to finger foods...), desperately trying to crawl, and beginning to babble (with her favorite utterance being "ya ya ya ya").  Scarlett spends the majority of her waking hours on all fours rocking back and forth while longingly staring at her feline friends.  Blixa and Lucy, you better enjoy your last few weeks (or days) of peace because this little lady will not rest until your glorious fur is in her sticky little fists!  Although Scarlett can roll and scoot to just about any shiny object she so desires, her difficulty crawling has caused extreme frustration, leading to loud squawks that can only be described as velociraptor-esque (hence her nickname at the babysitter's: v-rap).  I turn my head for a second and she has wiggled over to the power cords, scooted under the chair, or attempted to dive headfirst off of her changing pad.  Exciting times.

hello all! we're starting a little late in the game with this whole blog thing, but better late than never! here is a quick catch up of the past 5.5, nearly 6 (gasp!) months of little scarlett's escapades. being the indepenent, twenty-first century gal that she is, scarlett tried to type this herself while sitting in my lap, but she accidentlly closed the window and is now hanging out with dad, far far away from the keyboard.

and so it began on march 27, 2011...

the labor and delivery experience probably deserves a seperate post altogether.... we shall see.  somehow rehashing the most excrutiating pain in the world does not sound too appealing at this time, but I envision perhaps needing to share that info with scarlett someday.....  say, when she is 16, donning a pleather skirt from Wet Seal that is far too short and stomps into her room declaring that I must hate her.   well, dear scarlett, mommy loves you so much that she pushed for TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get you into this world!   now change that skirt.  and tell Mr. McHandsome that you will not be driving to Chicago on a school night to see Depeche Mode.  mommy and daddy would never do a thing like that.

anyhow, scarlett's first few months at home were quite an adjustment for us all...
